Planes, Trains, and Flying Cars?

The company Bellweather is bringing us something that movies indicated we should’ve seen years ago. If you grew up watching the cartoon The Jetson’s, you may already know what I’m referring to. If you don’t know who Judy and Elroy are, you may be surprised to hear that flying cars are about to join the transportation race. Yeah, just like Back to the Future teased, flying cars might actually end up being more than a Sci-Fi fantasy.

Bellweather has created a personal short-range aircraft using electric propulsion and computer controls that’s pushing their prototype closer to reality. With it’s sleek appearance, and no visible propellers, the futuristic design of the vehicle known as the Volar (prototype named Antelope) can travel up to 135 mph at a maximum altitude of 3,000 feet.

Currently working with a half scale version, the company has announced that last month the vehicle graduated from a year of being tethered indoor flights, to it’s first flight test in Dubai.
